For the past few Octobers the National Health Service has run the Stoptober
initiative to help those people, who have been thinking about quitting, give up for
good. Already, over 170000 have joined the campaign to stop.
There are several factors which encourage ALL THESE people to give it a go:
1) The health authorities give it huge publicity, hence raising awareness, and getting people to take responsibility for their own health.
2) It has been proven that most people find it easier to quit with encouragement from other smokers who also want to quit.
3) It has also been proven that most people can give up for good if they can stop for a week. The health benefits are very quickly obvious, as breathing becomes easier within 24 hours, the sense of taste and smell return within 48 hours. The body is in RECOVERY and people find that even one cigarette can undo all the good immediately.
We are all creatures of habit and our minds and bodies like routines and comforts. Most people are addicted to the habit and the association of smoking. Not so much the nicotine. The body gets used to the levels of stimulants but by looking at alternative behaviours quitters can quickly forget about the nicotine.
On Wednesday 1st October 2014
I will be offering
FREE TALKS AND ENCOURAGEMENT on how to STOP SMOKING to those who are thinking of stopping or wish to join the Stoptober campaign.
